Pandela is your choice for green VPS hosting

Pandela has partnered with CarbonFund.org to offset our carbon footprint. By offsetting our carbon footprint we are erasing the negative effects of running our data centres and you can be confident that your website isn't contributing to global warming. We have gone even further and have adhered to the "Reduce What You Can, Offset What You Can’t.™" philosophy by optimising our data centres. We continue to look for other ways to ensure the future of our planet is secure for generations to come.
UNDERSTANDING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
All individuals and organisations have a carbon footprint. It is a measure of green house gases that are produced by burning fossil fuels. Our carbon footprint is the amount of CO2 emissions that is created through day-to-day activities that use energy from fossil fuels (i.e. coal, oil, and gas). These fuels release CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
HOW DOES THE IT INDUSTRY PRODUCE A CARBON FOOTPRINT?
![]() |
Using energy to run servers and personal computers, under-utilising hardware, using old servers, not optimising server space and virtual servers all contribute to a carbon footprint. A moderate size server has about the same annual carbon
footprint as a gas-guzzling SUV getting 15 miles-to-the-gallon. |
To put it into better perspective, the largest IT intensive companies are international financial organisations that generate about 500,000 metric tons of CO2 per year and IT power consumption is responsible for up to 65 percent of that total.
DATA CENTRE OPTIMISATIONWe have taking steps in our data centre optimisation to reduce our power consumption and carbon emissions. Part of our data centre optimisation strategies focus on the convergence of resources (data centres, servers, storage, networks, business applications, infrastructure products) along with actions (refresh, consolidate, retire or virtualise.) |

Through these data centre optimisation efforts we are doing everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint. However these actions can only go so far and despite our best efforts, our carbon footprint still exists. So to ensure that we are truly green, we have partnered with CarbonFund.org and entered into their CarbonFree® program. By participating in this program, we have offset the negative effects of our carbon footprint. This demonstrates our commitment to greener hosting and erases the effects our business may have on the environment.
